Finally, Some Good News
August 15, 2008
By Pat Macht, Energy Division Manager
After months of a steady march upward, we’re finally seen energy prices soften somewhat—just in time for fall diesel contracting. Stay in touch with us weekly on prices so we can do our best to secure as good a contract price as possible for you.
We know propane prices are a concern for many due to the prospect of considerable grain drying this fall. Though propane doesn’t look like it will follow the crude market down as sharply due to tighter than usual supplies, we do expect them to drop to some degree.
We’ll need to get the on-farm storage filled for the fall needs. Supplies are adequate now, but when fall is in full swing we will run into problems at the terminals. If everyone waits until we’re hard into the harvest season, we will have some supply and delivery issues. Lets work together to get things filled at the best possible time
Try a new blend
Our new ethanol blender pump here in Morgan should be up and running by September 1. Come in, give it a try, and see how the various blends work for you. We would also appreciate your feedback. And, of course, let us know if you run into any issues.
Finally, as we head into this busy season, I just want to encourage you to call well ahead when ordering energy products. Our minimum lead time on deliveries—without a $50 delivery charge—is currently 48 hours. Advance notice helps us route our equipment efficiently, which helps us ensure all our customers are served best. We appreciate your help.
As always, thanks for your business. Please take a little extra time to stay safe during harvest.
